Job Position

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Lead to join our highly talented and technical team working on strategic global health issues such as Polio Eradication, Malaria control and elimination, Access to Family Planning services, Universal Health Coverage. As part of the onboarding process, you will gradually get acquainted with the different lines of services of Bluesquare. 

The ‘Business Development Lead ‘ is in charge of : 

  • Leading the business development strategy design and implementation at Bluesquare 
  • Ensuring business development processes and tools meet the needs of the teams 
  • Leading the business development team and coach the team members in their work 
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key partners and clients 
  • Coordinating the offer writing process for large offers 
  • Coordinating the marketing strategy and activities at Bluesquare

This role reports directly to the CEO.

Location: Brussels preferred. 

Team: We are a horizontal company with more than 70 team members in multiple countries. You lead the Business Development team and are part of Bluesquare’s management team. We value ownership, autonomy, flexibility, communication and teamwork.

Role & responsibilities

Your scope of responsibilities spans from from strategy design to team management, marketing and daily execution on business development opportunities:

1. Leading the business development strategy design and implementation at Bluesquare:

  • Craft the priorities for business development in alignment with technical teams and Bluesquare’s strategy 
  • Work closely with finance to monitor upcoming cash flows as well as profitability of offers 
  • Set business development KPIs and track progress against them
  • Engage with team leads to follow up progress per team and ensure roles and responsibilities are clear

2. Ensuring business development processes and tools meet the needs of the team:

  • Actively contribute to the fine tuning and standardization of our sales process and clearly defining roles and responsibilities with other teams
  • Work closely with technical teams in building standard documentation for offers 
  • Ensure Odoo is correctly showing opportunities and that the information is up to date and correct 

3. Leading the business development team and coaching the team members in their work:

  • Coordinate the work within the business development team and ensure work distribution among team members 
  • Get to know the technical capabilities of Bluesquare in order to present a personalized solution to clients
  • As a team, grow financial confidence in drafting budgets and estimating margin 

4. Building and maintaining relationships with key partners and clients:

  • Identify potential partners and clients and strategies to engage with them 
  • Manage the relationships with some key clients and actively engage with them 
  • Take part in some networking events and pitching sessions to present Bluesquare and craft partnership opportunities 
  • Coordinate with other units in the company to ensure client engagement

5. Coordinating the offer writing process for large offers

  • Identify requirements for the offer in terms of documentation, pricing and timeline 
  • Prepare offer structures and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timelines and criteria are met

6. Coordinating the marketing strategy and activities at Bluesquare

  • Lead the marketing strategy at Bluesquare by defining priorities and a clear action plan 
  • Ensure follow-up of marketing activities and their results 
  • Work on standard documentation for marketing such as presentations, pitching decks, etc.

Profile

Required:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, computer science, or public health, or in lieu of academic qualifications, excellent work history and references with a relevant organization
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in French and English 
  • At least 2 years experience leading a business development team 
  • At least 3 years experience in an admin, donor relations or sales position

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an international company
  • Experience working with international donors 
  • Know-how of the international public health sector 
  • Experience working with LMI countries 
  • Familiarity with DHIS2, other HMIS components, and familiarity with general data science concepts in order to be able to effectively articulate our value proposition to clients
  • Familiarity with Odoo or other CRMs, Google Drive
